The New Zealand Fistball team are gearing up to make their international debut in Australia next week at the first Trans-Tasman Fistball Championship.
Having only been in action for 4 months and only playing with a real fistball for 1 month, things have moved quickly for the national Men's and Women's teams but it's fair to say we're excited to take a shot at the title. The inaugural Trans-Tasman Fistball Championship (TTFC) is to be held in Geelong, Australia over Waitangi weekend. Colloquially known as "The Pavlova Plate", the stakes are high as the TTFC see's Australia and New Zealand's national men's and women's fistball teams go head to head in battle for the championship trophy (and bragging rights...obviously). Men's and women's trophies will be decided by a best-of-three match format spanning two days. In what we hope will be the first of bigger things to come, the TTFC not only marks the first time NZ Fistball have made an appearance on an international stage, but also the first time they'll have played with a real fistball net, so watch this space.
